If you are preparing for interviews

✓ Makesure you know the basics of every technical subject.

✓ In addition to technical skills, you need to be good at communication skills.

These two are very important.

Once you start working in the field.

✓ Observe everything: Know how to study people, their attitude, their presence of mind, decision making skills, problem solving skills and their managerial skills.

✓ Learn to study the drawings

✓ Give attention to detail which is given in       drawing.

✓Be familiar with the Code ..mainly for RCC and Steel

✓ Know software skills like AutoCAD,staad pro , and ms office

✓ Have practical knowledge. (Pure technical knowledge isn't sufficient)

✓ Don't procrastinate things. Not even simple things which takes minutes to complete.

✓ Learn to prioritize things. Know where to start, which work to complete first. Complete all works with perfection within the stipulated time.

✓ Don't disappoint your manager. Do the works given by your manager first. (He/she is going to look after your promotion)

✓ Work on your communication skills.

✓ Know what to do, when to do, how to do. (This comes with experience)       

If you are into site execution, know these facts. They'll be useful forever.

✓Dimension tolerance for cubes + – 2 mm.

✓ Maximum Free fall of concrete allowed is 1.50 m.

✓ In soil filling as per IS code for every 100 sqm, 3 sample for core cutting test should be taken.

✓ Cement shall be stored in dry places on a raised platform about 200mm above floor level and 300 mm away from walls. Bags to be stacked not more than 10 bags high in such a manner that it is adequately protected from moisture and contamination.

✓Water used for both mixing and curing shall be clean and free from injurious amounts of oils, acids, alkalies, salts, sugar and organic materials or other substances that may be deleterious to concrete or steel. The ph shall be generally between 6 and 8.

✓ Cement shall be tested for its setting.

✓ The initial setting time shall not be less than 30 minutes.

✓ The final setting time shall not be more than 10 hours.
